My surreal life...
So I worked last night, probably should not have, but I did, it's the only way the bills get paid around here... came home this morning to a letter from the agency... I sorta figured it was the annual "why have you not attended any training classes this year, we know we go out of our way to schedule all of them when you cannot attend, but that's your problem not ours" letter. That letter IS overdue, but this was not it. The letter today was to tell me the IRS was taking my money... we just went through this, the IRS and I agreed I cannot afford to pay them the blood money they conjured up as past due on filings that happened 8 years ago, filings they accepted and them audited and disallowed everything on 8 years after the fact....

Soooo, since I felt like crap after working a 12 hour night shift, I called them. I have been meaning to call them anyway since I have proof they sold my email and mailing address to IRS settlement attorneys who are now spamming me to hell and back. You wonder where everyone gets your info? The damn government agencies sell it, and then pretend to be fighting spammers....

I waited on hold for 27 minutes, and was finally greeted by a lovely woman who wanted to help me sort out the reason for this latest money grab.
:SIMPLE says she, my situation changed and I can afford to pay them now.
-Umm, I asked how my hours going down and my cost of living rising places me in a better position to pay them anything?

So we go over my financial info, money in, money out... blah, blah, blah for almost an hour and then she says....
: BUT Your new job pays quite well...
- I would think if I had a new job I would be the first to know about it, so what new job?
: The one in Texas... that pays you $3785/month
- Umm, I live in Portland Oregon not in Texas
Silence
:So you commute?
It took me a full 5 minutes to stop laughing/coughing/laughing I could not catch my breath to talk....
: Are you making light of this?
- Look, if you were working 2 jobs in Oregon, putting in 78 hours a week, and had documented that in your spare time you provided free child care for your grandson another 30+ hours a week, wouldn't YOU laugh if someone told you they believed you also worked enough in Texas???
: How far is Oregon from Texas?
- About 1700 just to get to the border...
: THIS cannot be right then.
- I would assume not.

The money grab was canceled via fax... and she is going to find out who is using my SSI number in Texas.... and why.

I am more than a little concerned this ever went this far, shouldn't someone at the IRS have been able to figure out this could not be right by themselves without my help? I do wish they would lose the marching band hold music, I am not feeling very patriotic these days...

Dinner tonight was butternut squash w/sliced almonds and cranberries next to steamed rice with green onions on top. Yum

You know I love you...
So I insult you with that love in mind...
DUMB ASS ;)
You should have told her -- feel free to take the money out of the check in Texas ;) heh THEY can clearly pay off your debt in no time with checks like that, wouldn't even notice, and it's the least they can do for borrowing your identity.

I've been sick, and clearly I am not thinking fast enough on my feet. I did suggest I could declare myself a lending institution who made a lot of bad loans ( Karina, Pat) and then I could seek a bailout to pay the IRS off and get this over with... I was informed I would have to incorporate to do that.

Well if they call you back saying they solved the mystery, suggest it anyway ;)
